Pam and Fenway at AKC National Rally.
Capital teaches AKC-style Rally. According to the AKC website, “Rally provides a link from the Canine Good Citizen (CGC) program to obedience or agility competition, both for dogs and handlers. In addition, rally promotes fun and enjoyment for dogs at all levels of competition.” Rally uses 50 signs to build a course. There are three levels: Novice, Advanced and Excellent. Each dog-handler team follows the course, walking from sign-to-sign at a brisk pace and working as a team.
This is NOT a basic obedience class.
This class is an introduction to rally obedience. Topics covered include the basics of the sport, how to read course maps, and correct performance of rally signs focusing on the Novice level, but also including stations from Advanced and Excellent levels.
A Rally course will be run at the end of each class, but considerable time will be spent on helping the handler and dog learn to move as a team in performing each station’s requirements with the dog heeling through the course on a loose leash.”
Prerequisites:
Dogs must have completed Advanced Basic or Sub-Novice obedience class.
